Embark on a rewarding 3-month journey as a Band 5 ACT Pharmacy Technician in the picturesque island of Guernsey. This exciting full-time locum opportunity offers the chance to join a dynamic pharmacy team as an Accuracy Checking Technician, where you will play a vital role in delivering safe and effective patient care while further developing your professional expertise.

What you will do:

  • Receive, store, and transport prescriptions efficiently and accurately.
  • Carry out accuracy and suitability checks on prescriptions, liaising with prescribers, wards, and pharmacists where required.
  • Generate medication labels and support monitoring programmes for specialist medications, including clozapine.
  • Dispense medications accurately for in-patients, out-patients, and private patients, including controlled drugs and cytotoxic medicines.
  • Assist pharmacists in obtaining accurate medication histories and assessing patients' own medicines.
  • Perform Medicines Reconciliation alongside the Ward Pharmacist to support safe and effective patient care.
  • Communicate medicine-related information clearly with patients, nurses, prescribers, and community pharmacies.
  • Participate in Technician-led Drug Administration rounds and contribute to service development.
  • Prepare worksheets and labels while performing dosage calculations and formula checks.
  • Record and monitor consumables and ingredients required for pharmaceutical production.
  • Carry out environmental cleaning and monitoring in line with departmental procedures.
  • Participate in departmental and organisational meetings to promote patient and staff safety.
  • Comply with all Health and Social Care policies, including health and safety procedures and the Data Protection Law 2001.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • ACT (Accuracy Checking Technician) qualification is essential.
  • DBS registered on the Update Service is required.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
