Cygnet Churchill, in south London, is an inpatient mental health hospital for men.

We are looking for a full time Medical Secretary to join our team at Cygnet Churchill to provide a comprehensive secretarial, administration and information service to the Consultant Psychiatrists and MDT.

You will work 40 hours a week, 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday on Juniper Ward, our acute service for men.

The Medical Secretary role is seen as an integral part to the smooth running of the hospital. Flexibility and good, close working relationships with colleagues will therefore, be of paramount importance.

The role comprises a wide range of specific duties and requires competence in word processing, keyboard skills, data capture, audio typing, communication and organisational and customer care skills.

.You're day-to-day...
  • Provide a high standard of secretarial support to members of the medical team
  • Maintain a good working relationship with clinicians & caring professionals
  • Attend & take minutes at a variety of clinical meetings, hearings & tribunals
  • Produce high quality admission & discharge summaries & tribunal reports
  • Type minutes, care plan approach reports & care plan outcomes
  • Create & maintain patient records & paper files
  • Undertake any reasonable request from Senior Management, Medical, Clinical and Administration Team.

We are looking for people who have...
  • Service orientated, with Medical Secretary experience & knowledge of mental health
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Diploma in Secretarial Skills or equivalent (desirable)
  • Experience of working in administration within a busy environment.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word and databases.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible, adaptable, organised & responsible.
  • Attention to detail.
