Patient Administrator - Admissions | Spire Murrayfield Hospital - Edinburgh | Bank

Spire Murrayfield Hospital in Edinburgh is currently looking to recruit a Patient Administrator to join their Admissions department on a bank basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team and have a great impact.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update patient records on the hospital computer system, primarily reservation arrangements of day-case and in-patient admissions
  • Answer telephone and email enquiries from patients, consultants and colleagues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure medical records are available for all pre-operative assessment appointments, liaising with medical records where necessary and preparing all paperwork associated with the assessment
  • Ensure all patients are booked in a timely manner ahead of their procedure
  • Book all pre-operative assessment appointments for patients attending for surgical procedures at Murrayfield and Shawfair Park Hospitals
  • Prior to admission ensure all authorisation is in place for insured patients, or payment has been received for self-funding patients.

Who we're looking for:
  • Previous relevant experience in an administrative support role
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and ability to work under pressure
  • A real team player
  • Strong IT skills
  • Previous experience in healthcare
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology would be a distinct advantage
