About us

Llanarth Court, operated by Priory, is a 96 bedded forensic hospital providing a secure environment consisting of medium, low and open rehabilitation settings for men and women with mental illness and/or personality disorders.

Llanarth Court offers a full care pathway allowing patients to move through to the next stage of their treatment in a timely manner. We admit patients with highly challenging presentations and are able to move them through their care pathway quickly because of the quality of interventions offered. We have a GP service three days a week that is supported by a physical health team, who provide clinics for patients such as clozapine, retinopathy, triage for physical health issues and emergencies.

We are able to support people with:

  • Complex mental health needs

  • Severe and enduring mental health needs
  • A learning disability
  • Personality disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Self-harm
  • Sexual offending behaviour

We can also support people with the following challenges alongside their primary diagnosis:

Careers at Llanarth Court

Our clinical teams have considerable experience in the assessment and care of offenders with mental health conditions, and other people requiring a secure placement. We seek to promote the recovery of our patients from the point of admission, through to discharge and follow-up. Our experienced MDT provides integrated assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for patients.

Mental health nurse

As a Mental Health Nurse you will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with members of the multidisciplinary team, external agencies and organisations, patients and relatives. Our RMNs also have a good working knowledge of the relevant government health acts and codes of conduct in England, Wales and Scotland. Experience in a related environment is often essential.

Registered nurse

Registered nurses at Priory make autonomous decisions and also collaborate to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Our nurses, ideally, have significant previous nursing experience in older people's care homes and demonstrate true commitment both to their own personal development and to the development of their wider team. All nurses require an NMC qualification.

Occupational therapist

The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist includes managing members of the therapy team, overseeing service provision in a variety of areas and providing supervision to junior staff. The role will also involve delivering a range of innovative interventions that motivate and engage individuals to improve their occupational skills and mental wellbeing. There will be opportunities for assessing, intervening and evaluating progress in line with MDT care plans. The post requires someone who is willing to find new and creative ways to work with clients with a range of presenting difficulties.
