About us

Cygnet Hospital Bury offers various inpatient mental health services for both men and women, including specialised services for individuals who are deaf and provision for adolescents through CAMHS. Each service user has a bedroom with en-suite facilities, as well as access to communal spaces such as a gym, laundry facilities, occupational therapy kitchen, therapy garden, and woodland walkways leading down to the Elton Reservoir.

Our Wards

Lower East Ward is a medium secure service for men with complex care needs who present with a high level of risk and when other services have struggled to diagnose.

Lower West Ward is a low-secure service for women that provides highly specialised and culturally sensitive treatment for Deaf patients with mental disorders.

Upper East Ward is a low-secure service for men with mental illness and supports men experiencing complex mental illness or personality disorders.

Upper West Ward is a medium secure service for women that supports both hearing and Deaf women with a range of complex care needs.

Bridge Hampton Ward is a low-secure ward for men providing highly specialised Mental Health and Deafness services.

East Hampton Ward is a low-secure service for men with mental illness and supports men experiencing complex mental illness or personality disorders.

South Hampton Ward is a male PICU service that accepts emergency and crisis admissions. Referrals come to us from all areas, including acute and prison services.

West Hampton Ward is a medium secure service for men that supports those with complex care needs including personality disorders, mental illness, and detachment disorders.

Columbus & Madison Wards offer dedicated personality disorder services for men in a medium secure setting.

White House is an acute service providing a safe, stabilising environment for men experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and requiring emergency admission.

Wizard House is a general adolescent CAMHS Acute Service that offers individualised care for young people aged 12-18 who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

Primrose Ward is a Tier 4 CAMHS PICU service offering a defined treatment pathway from admission/intervention and discharge including rapid assessment and treatment.

Buttercup Ward is our CAMHS PICU service for young people aged 12-18 with severe mental illness.

Mulberry Ward is a low-secure CAMHS service. The service can support girls aged between 12 and 18.
