There will be two wards at the hospital; a 12-bed complex personality disorder service for women with disordered eating and a 12-bed highly specialised eating disorder service. The complex personality disorder service for women with a dual diagnosis of personality disorder and co-morbid disordered eating will allow both aspects to be treated simultaneously, with the appropriate therapeutic input provided. The service offers a phased treatment pathway that aims to help the individual service user understand and plan their journey through treatment. This service focuses on the need for treatment to be collaborative with service users taking account of individual needs, evidence-based, driven by multi-disciplinary understanding, support, and interventions. This allows the service user to progress through the service and increase their quality of life and functioning. The highly specialised eating disorder service for women will include those with extremely low BMIs. The focus is on supporting individuals to attain a healthy BMI and prepare for a return to home. The service will provide support to individuals in a safe and homely environment and promote engagement with the women to help diminish their distress and help them achieve a better quality of life. For most individuals, this will involve the reduction of emotional behaviours associated with the eating disorder psychopathology and acquiring new skills necessary for surviving emotional crises, regulating emotions, and improving interpersonal effectiveness. This position offers a unique opportunity to support the provision of Occupational Therapy across Cygnet Elowen. The successful post holder will be provided with clinical supervision by the onsite Occupational Therapist. It is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well as offering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease like Huntington's Disease, a caring and longer term placement to support and help manage the progression of their symptoms. The service accepts unplanned, often urgent admissions where a service user requires a safe place to start treatment at the earliest possible time as well as planned admissions. The service is a modern purpose-built facility, designed specifically to provide a clinically-led evidence-based neuropsychiatric pathway for individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge. Our focus is to create a therapeutic rich environment to engage the men in our care and offer them the opportunity to maximise their independence. Our in-house Neuropsychiatry interdisciplinary team are able to support those with complex physical health needs and we have en-suite bedrooms located on the ground floor for men with mobility impairments. Our person-centred approach puts the individual at the centre of their care and discharge planning. The service offers a wide range of activities and facilities to promote independent function. Positive behaviour goals are focused on discharge planning to support service users to return to community living - either with support or independently. You will be the Band 5 Occupational Therapist and will report directly to the Band 6 Occupational Therapist onsite. The individually designed wards replicate the well-established rehabilitation and treatment pathways already successfully offered by Cygnet in other Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation services; facilitating a clear and distinctive care and treatment pathway led by an all-encompassing in-house clinical and medical team. We ensure person-centred outcomes are maximised through inter-disciplinary working, whilst keeping the individual at the heart of their discharge planning. This service is able to accept individuals using a variety of legal frameworks, including those under the Mental Health Act. Cygnet Paddocks is located in Widnes, in the North West. The local area has many parks and nature reserves, and the service is well connected by public transport to nearby supermarkets, cafés and leisure activities. Cygnet Brunel in Bristol offers an extensive Neuropsychiatric treatment, care and rehabilitation model which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of the men they support. The individually designed wards facilitate a clear and distinctive care and treatment pathway for those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); where behaviours that challenge are the overarching impairment to recovery and rehabilitation. Cygnet Brunel has 32 beds, which are spread across 4 wards. Cygnet Brunel supports the Level 1 Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation pathway for the South West and as such accommodates Level 1 &amp; 2a patients across all of the wards; focusing on the service users individual needs in order to prioritize the ward location. <ul> <li>Ketch Ward creates a goal focussed Neuropsychiatric rehabilitation pathway. The therapeutic rich environment engages services users and offers them the opportunity to maximise their independence, providing post-acute specialist rehabilitation beds for NHS England.</li> <li>Clipper Ward offers a safe and therapeutic setting for those affected by an acquired brain injury whose nursing and care dependency requires more input from our nursing team. This may mean that service users have a PEG or RIG, catheter or complex physical health support requirements. Those service users affected by neurodegenerative conditions who require maintenance therapy and positive behavioural support to help maintain function and manage disease progression are also supported on this ward. Quality of life is key to the ward's ethos.</li> <li>Pilot Ward supports individuals with a co-morbid diagnosis of ABI and Organic Behaviour Disorders. Bespoke treatment pathways help to manage impairments generated by both ABI and Mental Health conditions, ensuring symptom regulation is maintained for optimum recovery and quality of life.</li> <li>Yawl offers a slower stream Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation pathway for men affected by an ABI. The ward offers service users an opportunity to maximise their skills through a slower stream approach enabling them to transfer their skills into the community and day to day living prior to their successful discharge.</li> </ul> The neuropsychiatric MDT consists of Psychiatry, Speciality Doctor's, and Psychology, Speech and language therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Dietetics as well as a diverse and experienced Nursing team. The Occupational Therapy Team consists of a Head Occupational Therapist, a Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist and 2 Occupational Therapy Assistants. All of which are full time. Our interventions are matched according to individual needs. Our team will always adapt their engagement technique and personnel delivering specific interventions to maximise engagement and ensure that progress is always being made with the service users in our care. Our occupational therapy pathway has different stages of treatment and the interventions offered will change as our service user's progress through each stage of this pathway.
