As a Adult Visiting Consultant, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients<ul> <li>Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.</li> <li>Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).</li> <li>Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.</li> <li>Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.</li> <li>Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.</li> </ul> You can find additional information in the attached job description. Consultant Psychiatrist - Part Time Application Deadline: 31 December 2025 Department: Medical and Psychiatry Employment Type: Permanent - Part Time Location: Solihull Compensation: £81,394 / year Description Priory Hospital Solihull are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team on a part-time basis, working 18.75 hours per week. Priory Hospital Solihull is a mental health hospital in beautiful grounds in the picturesque village of Meriden. Situated on the outskirts of Solihull and Coventry, we provide Rehabilitation &amp; Recovery services to 31 inpatients over three wards: Arley Ward - 10 bedded male R&amp;R service (level 2) Elkin Ward - 10 bedded male R&amp;R service (level 2) Millison Ward - 11 bedded male R&amp;R service (level 2 - step down) Patients have a primary diagnosis of a Serious &amp; Enduring Mental Illness, with additional complexities such as physical health conditions, substance misuse, and secondary mental health issues. What you'll be doing This vacancy for a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist complements our existing medical work force and has a caseload of approximately 11 R&amp;R patients. Working alongside our established full-time Medical Director/Consultant Psychiatrist, you would lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals from Nursing, Psychology, and Occupational Therapy and a Junior Doctor, who will form part of the MDT. Working hours are typically 2.5 days per week on site however, how this is structured can be discussed at the interview and we are able to consider flexible working hours. There is strong governance structure within the hospital and region, and the successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in service and quality development activities and to participate in governance meetings and R&amp;R Service Line meetings, as necessary. Priory Hospital Solihull operates a non-residential medical on call rota with other sites and the post holder is expected to participate on the on-call rota. You can find additional information in the attached job description. What you'll bring to the role Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR). Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCPsych or equivalent) and must have maintained Section 12, Approved Clinician and Responsible Clinician status. Due to limits on sponsorship allocations we are not currently in a position to offer sponsorship to new candidates for these roles; this remains under review.
