The Elton Unit is looking to recruit a Therapy Assistant to join the team.This is apart timerole for 25 hours.
The Elton Unit is located on the outskirts of Bury, Greater Manchester. It is a 28-bedded specialist care home which provides residential and nursing support to adults aged 18 years and older who have a brain injury.
The brain injury service is aimed at those whose disability requires management by a specialist team of practitioners who work together to maintain the person's wellbeing and quality of life. The Elton Unit offers specialist care for a wide range of complex support needs, including people with a prolonged disorder of consciousness (PDOC).
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents
What you'll bring to the role

While you will be provided with the training and tools to help you succeed in this role, you will already have some experience within a healthcare environment. A background of working with brain injuries is desirable, but not essential. You will also be confident reading and writing as you'll be contributing to notes for our residents files and be comfortable navigating company systems.

- Supporting senior staff as part of the care and therapy planning process, assisting with tests, exercises and examinations as directed
- Assisting with the reception, orientation and induction of new patients ensuring they are comfortable and familiar with the environment and to impart essential information regarding emergency procedures
- Assisting trained staff with the preparation, planning and delivery of group and one-to-one occupational, therapeutic and recreational activities; observing, recording and reporting patient responses to the assigned clinician as appropriate.
