We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a part-time Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team at the Rosewood Mother and Baby Unit (MBU).
The Rosewood MBU is an eight-bedded inpatient unit providing specialist care and treatment to women experiencing acute perinatal mental health issues. Our mission is to support the health and recovery of mothers while fostering the crucial early development of the mother-infant relationship.
We are therefore looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team. The post holder will have experience working within mental health, and if possible, experience of perinatal mental health and/or infant/child development.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is committed to the development and clinical leadership of the MBU.

We are the Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. We care for the mental health and wellbeing of people across Kent and Medway. Our teams support adults with a wide range of mental health needs. Because we cover the whole county and both hospital and community settings, we can make care more joined up and easier to access for the 1.8 million people of Kent and Medway. What is High Cost Area Allowance?
The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas.
As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month.

(the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly).

- To provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention to those patients on Rosewood Mother and Baby Unit.
- To support the continued development and provision of a meaningful group programme on the ward.
- To support the Occupational Therapy Assistants on the ward with their involvement in patient care.
- To be involved in multi-disciplinary decisions regarding patient care.
- The senior occupational therapist is an experienced occupational therapist within the multi-disciplinary care team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To identify, develop and provide the Occupational Therapy contribution within the multi-disciplinary service in accordance with the needs of service users and the requirements of the service.
- To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions for identified service users.
- To manage a defined caseload of service users with occupational needs using evidence based, service user centred, hope and recovery, health promotion and relapse prevention orientated principles and practice.

- A recognised Occupational Therapist professional qualification
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Registered member of the relevant professional body; Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and / or special interest group

- Substantial experience of working in mental health occupational therapy
- Experience of delivering clinical supervision
- Experience of developing learners and staff in the work place
- Clinical experience of working in perinatal mental health
- Experience of being involved in service developments or audits

- Knowledge in the application of relevant OT theoretical models, and approaches relevant to service user group.
- Ability to make decisions and work co-operatively as part of an inter-professional team
- Knowledge of and ability to apply national policies and procedures including, but not limited to confidentiality, consent, risk management, service user involvement.
- An ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing • Computer literate. Able to use e-mail, Word, Excel and access Internet resources
- An understanding of the broad aims of current national and local healthcare policy and an appreciation of the implications of this on clinical practice
