Location: Inverness with regional travel and occasional nationwide travel
Salary: £25,000 to £27,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

OH Medical is recruiting for a Peripatetic Occupational Health Technician to join a leading Occupational Health provider, based from the Inverness area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable individual looking to develop their career within Occupational Health. You'll work in a varied, field-based role, travelling to client sites in a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to deliver essential health surveillance services across a range of industries.

You'll receive a comprehensive three-week training and induction programme, alongside ongoing mentoring and support, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced Occupational Health Technicians as well as candidates looking to transfer their existing healthcare or health assessment skills into Occupational Health.

Please note: Travel is a significant part of this position. You can expect to be away from home for approximately three out of four weeks each month, although you will always return home on Friday for the weekend.

Duties
  • Deliver health surveillance screenings including audiometry and spirometry
  • Carry out baseline and biometric measurements including height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis
  • Accurately record medical information within Occupational Health records
  • Ensure information is passed to the appropriate clinical team to support decision-making
  • Maintain medical equipment, ensuring it is clean, serviceable and fit for purpose
  • Support workplace health promotion activities and additional Occupational Health services where required
  • Gather and record accurate information to support nurses and physicians with patient management
  • Drive a Mobile Medical Unit to client sites across the region, with occasional nationwide travel
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality and GDPR compliance
Criteria
  • Full UK manual driving licence, held for a minimum of 12 months
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old for driving eligibility
  • Ability to provide a driving licence share code
  • Comfortable with extensive travel and regular overnight stays, potentially being away from home for around three out of four weeks each month
  • Suitable facilities to safely park a Mobile Medical Unit at or near your home overnight
  • Previous experience as an Occupational Health Technician would be beneficial
  • Applications are also welcomed from candidates with backgrounds such as Healthcare Support Worker, Hospital Healthcare Assistant, Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Technician, Ambulance Assistant, Emergency Care Technician or Army Medic
  • Sports Science graduates with experience carrying out baseline health assessments are also encouraged to apply
  • Good understanding of GDPR, confidentiality and accurate record keeping
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines using your own initiative
  • Confident working independently as well as collaboratively within a wider Occupational Health team
  • Approachable with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
Travel & Overnight Stays

This is a genuinely peripatetic position, so candidates need to be comfortable with regular travel.

You may be away from home for approximately three out of four weeks of the month, but you will always be brought home on Friday for the weekend.
