Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Develop a knowledge and understanding of the patient pathway. Ensure that appointments are made within the correct timescales and any follow-up actions from clinical appointments are carried out, i.e. tests or appointments ordered and bookings made within the correct timescale. Ensuring any capacity issues are escalated to the service team. Develop systems to ensure rapid communication and effective co-ordination between all other Trusts/Centres where patients may be referred for specialised diagnostic tests or treatment. Ensure that patients are accurately monitored through each stage of their diagnostic and treatment pathway, using the PTL. Act as a tracker for an identified cohort of patients on the 18 week pathway so that they are not lost on the system. Be responsible for ensuring patient data is correct on PAS, i.e., ensure clinics are cashed up and the correct outcome entered the procedure codes and RTT codes.
Input 'add to waiting list forms' within 24 hours of decision to admit . Ensuring accuracy and efficient updating of waiting list records.
To ensure patient cancellations are allocated new TCI dates within the specified time limits.
To manage pre-assessment clinics, working in close conjunction with pre-assessment staff to ensure the smooth running of clinics
Monitor elective waiting times, proactively identifying risks, and taking corrective actions to ensure relevant targets are not breached, in conjunction with the Service Team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 equivalent qualification and experience
  • Minimum 2 years office experience, preferably in a health service environment
Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of National NHS Targets
  • Computer literate including ability to use Microsoft packages such as Excel
  • Proficient use of hospital computerised patient systems
Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a hospital environment
  • Experience dealing with routine/urgent and complex problems, progress chasing and reviewing resources
Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Has the ability to adapt to challenging and changing situations/demands and able to support colleagues through
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across the organisation liaising with different levels of personnel
  • Self motivation but equally confident to escalate issues
