Description
Priory Hospital Ticehurst is looking to recruit an Occupational Therapy Assistant join the team. This is a full-time/37.5 Hours role.

Set within 48 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens in a small village in East Sussex, Priory Ticehurst House is an idyllic location which allows us to provide a highly therapeutic environment, making us the perfect place for people staying with us to begin their recovery. We work collaboratively with the discharge teams to ensure a smooth transition back into existing community services, or to an individual's home, where possible.

Priory's acute services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.


What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Assist patients in developing or regaining skills necessary for daily living and working.
  • Implement treatment plans designed by Occupational Therapists, monitoring patient progress and providing feedback.
  • Support patients with mental health conditions to engage in therapeutic activities that promote recovery and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and progress, adhering to Priory Hospital's standards and policies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic patient care

What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

To be successful in this role, you should have demonstrable experience working in a healthcare setting, ideally with exposure to mental health or rehabilitation environments. A relevant qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, is highly desirable.
You should possess a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices, and be able to implement treatment plans under the guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be interacting with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team. You must maintain accurate, timely documentation that adheres to the hospital's policies and procedures. A genuine passion for supporting individuals in their recovery journey, a commitment to providing high-quality care, and a flexible approach to working are also essential.
