Description
Priory Hospital Stockton Hall are looking to recruit a highly motivated occupational therapist to join our team of forensic occupational therapists and therapy assistants. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to detained males within our mental illness Service Line or to detained female patients within our 12 bedded medium secure ward.
We currently have two vacancies available. One position is 30 hours per week, working on the male mental illness ward, and the other is a full-time role 37.5 hours per week within the female service.
Working in a medium secure setting, you will demonstrate a good knowledge of occupational therapy input into risk assessment and risk management, and will be an integral member of the clinical team. Standardised clinical tools based on the Model of Human Occupation will be utilised where the post holder has identified their appropriateness using specialist knowledge.
You will work with a variety of conditions which are often complex and challenging and will require a good knowledge of occupational therapy input into risk assessment and risk management. The post holder will supervise junior members of the occupational therapy team, as well as contribute to service developments where appropriate. The suitable candidate will have the opportunity to supervise other members of the occupational therapy team, as well as contribute to service developments.
Previous experience of working in women's and/or secure services or in-patient services would be beneficial, however we are keen to hear from candidates who have an interest in working with women.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients
1.Manages and co-ordinates the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
2. Receives and responds promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. Maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient's rehabilitation / progress.
3. Ensures the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
4. Maintains and develops close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards.
5. Contributes to business growth by actively promoting priory therapy services in line with the local units' business plan.
6. Maintains effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers, and purchasers throughout the patients rehabilitation.
