OH Medical is recruiting for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join a leading in house organisation supporting employees across Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing in-house Occupational Health & Wellbeing team, delivering a proactive and evidence-based occupational health service within a safety-critical environment. The role offers a varied mix of health surveillance, case management, wellbeing support, and stakeholder engagement, with opportunities to contribute to the ongoing development of occupational health services across the business.

The position is field-based across Scotland, with regular travel required and occasional overnight stays. Candidates based within Scotland will be considered, although those located within the Central Belt are likely to benefit from easier access to operational sites and the Glasgow office.

The Role

As an Occupational Health Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting employee health, safety, and wellbeing across a geographically diverse workforce.

Reporting to the Head of Occupational Health & Wellbeing, you will work alongside Occupational Health Technicians and Wellbeing Leads to deliver a comprehensive occupational health service. You will provide expert advice to managers and employees, support health surveillance programmes, undertake case management activities, and contribute to service development initiatives.

This is a predominantly site-based role, with an expectation of four days per week onsite at offices or clinics and one day working from home.

Key Responsibilities Occupational Health Practice
  • Deliver health surveillance programmes across Scotland
  • Manage occupational health casework and provide evidence-based fitness-for-work advice
  • Conduct occupational health assessments and health reviews
  • Undertake face fit testing and other occupational health screening activities
  • Refer employees to appropriate interventions, support services, and wellbeing resources
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in line with occupational health legislation, HSE guidance, and best practice standards
Service Development & Governance
  • Support the ongoing development of occupational health policies and procedures
  • Monitor service activity and maintain management information reporting
  • Identify trends and escalate emerging health risks and concerns
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across occupational health and wellbeing services
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build effective relationships with operational teams, HR colleagues, and business leaders
  • Promote occupational health services and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation
  • Influence and support managers in managing workplace health risks and employee wellbeing
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve workforce health outcomes
About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:
  • Current NMC registration with Part 3 of the register
  • SCPHN Occupational Health qualification
  • Significant experience within occupational health, including health surveillance and case management
  • Strong understanding of UK occupational health legislation, HSE guidance, and occupational health best practice
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills
  • Experience working with clinical systems and occupational health reporting data
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to workplace health management
Desirable Experience
  • HAVS Tier 3 qualification
  • Experience working within utilities, engineering, manufacturing, construction, or other safety-critical industries
  • Experience leading or supporting occupational health service improvement initiatives
Candidates without a HAVS Tier 3 qualification are encouraged to apply, as support will be provided to work towards this qualification.

Additional Requirements
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Scotland
  • Ability to undertake occasional overnight stays as required
  • Comfortable working within a predominantly site-based role
