Contract: Permanent

You'll help us make health happen by:

You will be responsible for the delivery of a coordinated breast care service across Cromwell hospital and diagnostic and secondary care centres London (DASCAL). Under the guidance of the lead mammographer and supported by the breast pathway services coordinator, the delegate will be responsible for performing mammograms and interventional breast care procedures in line with departmental clinical protocols and policies.

You'll provide breast screening service using our new state-of-the-art technology with Pristina, which is engineered for a better patient experience along the entire breast care pathway, from screening and diagnosis to treatment planning and monitoring. You'll improve our customer journey by carrying out the screenings on-site on the day of health assessments, ensuring patient have a fast and efficient service from screening to treatment.
  • Deliver a high quality, patient centric service abiding by Ionising Radiation and Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER) practicing in line with professional standards set by the healthcare and professional councils. They will work closely with the administrative teams, breast care consultants, clinical nurse specialists and radiologists to provide holistic care within the breast care service.
  • Responsible for ensuring examinations performed have been correctly charged, documentation of procedures in accordance with hospital guidance and all procedures performed are as per departmental protocol and hospital policy.
  • Interact with patients, consultants, staff and visitors in a way that will create an experience in accordance with the BUPA code: putting customers at the centre of the service.
  • Responsible for delivery of connected care pathways and working with BUPA clinics to ensure patients receive timely access to diagnostics and outpatient services aligning to KPIs. They will promote good relations with referring clinicians and other hospital departments both internally and externally and contribute to the growth of services.
Other duties include:
  • Organise the daily work programme to ensure that the department runs efficiently.
  • Work flexible hours if required to accommodate changing workload patterns of the Mammography service.
  • Perform high quality examinations as required by referring physicians according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all patients being imaged receive a very high standard of care.
  • Accurately analyse the acquired data, record results and produce high quality images for reporting.
  • Ensure all equipment within the department is cared for and maintained, cleanliness is upheld and that all equipment faults are reported immediately.
  • Maintain the efficient use of all resources, establish stock control systems and liaise with manufacturers and suppliers.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
  • A flexible and adaptive working attitude is crucial.
  • Use your own initiative in responding to the needs of the service and have a strong focus on streamlining the patient pathway through the imaging department.
  • Work closely with the Lead Mammographer to maintain and enhance the Breast imaging service we offer to our patients and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • BSc or DCR in Radiography (essential)
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography (essential)
  • HCPC Registered (essential)
  • Substantial Mammography Experience
    (minimum of 3 years) including Biopsy
    experience
