We need a experienced Psychologist who's passionate about helping people with a range of complex mental health needs to join our Secure Forensic service.

Joining our team on a part time basis, you will work 24hrs per week across 3days.

Cygnet Bury Hudson:

Cygnet Bury Hudson provides a wide range of secure mental health services for men including individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

The Role/ Day to day:
  • Looking for an HCPC Registered Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist or nearly qualified to work within an established multidisciplinary team (MDT) on a secure ward.
  • Providing highly specialist psychological assessments and therapy for adult males who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and present with severe and complex mental health conditions.
  • To formulate cases using evidence based psychological models to guide treatment and risk management
  • To implement individual and group interventions, supporting patients to fully engage with their care pathway and to monitor treatment outcomes
  • To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to service users' formulation and treatment plan.
  • Assess and manage risk using structured professional judgement tools.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Supporting staff development through training, reflective practice and provide supervision to Assistant Psychologists, helping to build a strong and skilled team

We are looking for someone who is...
  • An HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist or close to qualification with experience in a clinical, forensic or mental health setting and able to work effectively with individuals with mental illness, personality disorder and complex trauma.
  • Preferably trained in delivering psychological therapies such as Schema, Cognitive Analytical and/or DBT and familiar with using psychological models and theories to treat difficulties such as emotional dysregulation, self-harming, offending behaviour and substance misuse problems.
  • Possesses a good understanding of risk and trauma and is trained in a range of risk assessment tools, specialist psychological assessments and with strong formulation skills
  • Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs and working in a trauma informed way.
