OH Medical is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK organisation for an Environment, Health & Safety Advisor position in Birmingham, West Midlands and Wales areas. The Role

This is a varied regional role where you'll act as the trusted Environment, Health & Safety Advisor across a portfolio of sites. You'll support managers and teams by delivering audits, providing practical health and safety advice, leading investigations and developing policies that improve compliance and reduce risk.

Working closely with senior leadership, you'll help shape the organisation's safety strategy through meaningful reporting, trend analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

As the Environment, Health & Safety Advisor you will:
  • Plan and deliver a programme of internal EH&S audits across your allocated region
  • Produce detailed audit reports with practical recommendations and agreed action plans
  • Monitor audit actions and support sites in achieving compliance
  • Analyse audit and incident data to identify trends and provide reports for senior management
  • Provide day-to-day Environment, Health & Safety advice to managers and practice teams
  • Lead incident investigations, carrying out root cause analysis and producing formal investigation reports
  • Review general fire safety arrangements during audits and escalate technical matters where appropriate
  • Support environmental monitoring activities, including COSHH exposure assessments
  • Develop and review Health & Safety policies, procedures, guidance documents and risk assessment templates
  • Identify opportunities to improve Safe Systems of Work across the business
  • Design and deliver engaging Health & Safety training, both remotely and face-to-face
  • Mentor junior members of the EH&S team and contribute to peer reviews
  • Support the onboarding of new sites to ensure compliance from day one
  • Travel regularly throughout your region, with occasional overnight stays where required.
About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical Health & Safety knowledge with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Essential
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • TechIOSH membership, or willingness to achieve this within 12 months
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor, Health & Safety Auditor or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and its practical application
  • Strong report writing, organisational and analytical skills
  • Confident presenting information and influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
  • Willingness to travel regularly across your allocated region.
Desirable
  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • CertIOSH membership
  • Fire Safety qualification (such as the NEBOSH Fire Certificate)
  • Experience within healthcare, veterinary or other multi-site organisations
  • Experience writing policies and developing risk assessment frameworks
  • Experience using Excel, Power BI or similar reporting tools.
