Latrobe Regional Health (LRH), the major specialist mental health provider for the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia, is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our expanding Mental Health and Wellbeing Services. About the Role

As a Consultant Psychiatrist at LRH, you will play a central role in delivering high‑quality mental health care across a diverse regional population. You will work within a supportive, collaborative team of psychiatrists, registrars, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and allied health professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment across inpatient, community, and crisis settings.
• Clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, trainees, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Collaborative care with internal and external partners including primary care, emergency services, and community agencies.
• Active participation in service development, including model‑of‑care improvements and strategic planning.
• Engagement in audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities.
• Supporting education and research within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.

You will join a service committed to recovery‑oriented practice, patient‑centred care, and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a compassionate, collaborative clinician who values integrity, respect, and high‑quality mental health care. You bring strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork.

Essential qualifications and experience:

• MRCPsych, FRANZCP, or equivalent specialist qualification
• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Demonstrated senior‑level psychiatric experience
• Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, families, and colleagues
• Commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and peer review
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary mental health team
