Priory is looking for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at a brand-new, nurse-led residential service in Melton Mowbray supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering a pioneering service. This is a part-time/ 20 Hour role.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of Clients.

The successful candidate will hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Psychiatry, and be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice in the UK. They must have substantial experience managing complex mental health conditions in NHS or equivalent settings, demonstrating clinical excellence and strong leadership within multidisciplinary teams. The candidate should have a sound knowledge of NHS standards, guidelines (e.g., NICE), and legislation relevant to mental health practice in the UK, including the Mental Health Act. Proven skills in psychopharmacology, risk assessment, and evidence-based treatment approaches are essential. Excellent communication, teamworking, and stakeholder engagement abilities are required, along with experience contributing to clinical audits, service development, and training.

- Taking overall clinical responsibility for a defined caseload, including leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, complex risk reviews, Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings, and contributing to the development and maintenance of a safe, psychologically informed therapeutic milieu.
- Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, ensuring statutory compliance, high-quality clinical decision-making, and clear communication with patients, families, and external agencies.
- Leading on specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention for individuals with complex mental health needs, and providing expert consultation and guidance to the multidisciplinary team.
- Supervising referral, admission, and discharge pathways, including undertaking or contributing to pre-admission assessments and ensuring robust risk management, safeguarding, and continuity of care planning.
- Providing clinical leadership within the service through supervision, teaching, reflective practice, service development, audit, and research, while ensuring adherence to professional standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society.
