About the Role

As a Consultant Anaesthetist at LRH, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality anaesthetic and perioperative care across a broad surgical caseload. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, intensivists, emergency clinicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, while contributing to the ongoing development of anaesthetic services within the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing anaesthetic services across operating theatres, critical care, and procedural areas within your credentialed scope.
• Pre‑operative assessment and peri‑operative management of patients.
• Clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, trainees, and nursing colleagues.
• Ensuring effective integration with key departments including ICU, Emergency, Surgical Services, and Patient Flow.
• Active participation in audit, quality improvement, and departmental meetings.
• Supporting LRH’s strategic and service development priorities, including innovation and expansion of perioperative services.
• Contributing to research and education within the department.

About You

You are a collaborative, patient‑centred clinician who values integrity, respect, and high‑quality care. You bring strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential qualifications and experience:

• FRCA, FANZCA, or equivalent specialist qualification
• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Demonstrated senior‑level anaesthetic experience
• Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and families
• Commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and peer review
• Ability to work harmoniously within a multidisciplinary team
