Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the East Lancashire District Nursing Service as a Clerical Officer. This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, providing vital administrative support to clinical teams across the ELHT footprint.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual with excellent communication and IT skills who enjoys working in a busy environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth and effective delivery of District Nursing services, helping clinicians focus on providing high-quality patient care.

You will work as part of a supportive neighbourhood team and wider administration network, providing a high standard of customer service and administrative support. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads and a good understanding of confidentiality.

As service needs can vary, flexibility is essential. The post holder will be aligned to a specific team but may be required to work across different sites and provide cover where needed to ensure continuity of service.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and previous administrative experience within a busy office environment. The ability to work effectively as part of a team, whilst also using initiative and working independently, is essential.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible individual who can adapt to the changing needs of the service. Flexibility is key, as the post holder may be required to work across different sites and provide cover as needed to ensure continuity of service delivery.

Strong IT skills are essential, together with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands, maintain accurate records and provide a high standard of administrative support to clinical teams, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of patient services.

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

If the role you are applying for is identified as either controlled or regulated activity as defined in in the Safeguarding vulnerable Groups Act (2006) any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £55.38 and for a Standard Disclosure will be £27.38.
