An excellent full‑time locum opportunity is available for a Band 8a Speech and Language Therapist to join the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team in Croydon. As a senior clinician, you will deliver highly specialist assessments and interventions across a wide range of complex needs, including dysphagia, eating and drinking difficulties, and significant communication challenges. Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Work in accordance with Croydon Health Services’ Consent to Treatment policy.
  • Apply the Gascoigne Balanced Model and Malcomess Care Aims in clinical practice.
  • Deliver highly specialist assessments, diagnoses, and interventions for:
    • Dysphagia
    • Eating and drinking difficulties
    • Complex communication needs
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment plans for children with complex needs.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and educational settings.
  • Provide clinical expertise to colleagues, families, and partner professionals.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • HCPC registration.
  • Ability to drive to travel across the Croydon area.
  • Strong clinical expertise in complex paediatrics and/or dysphagia.
  • Experience delivering specialist interventions within children’s services.

Desirable

  • Prior Band 8a experience or equivalent senior clinical responsibilities.
  • Training in advanced dysphagia or specialist paediatric therapy approaches.
