What you will do

• Independently perform and interpret a wide range of ultrasound examinations including obstetric, gynaecological, and general scans.
• Produce accurate, high‑quality diagnostic reports to support clinical decision‑making.
• Apply scanning techniques tailored to individual clinical presentations and histories.
• Analyse complex clinical information to ensure precise diagnoses and optimal patient outcomes.
• Operate autonomously as a reporting sonographer, taking full ownership of examinations and results.
• Communicate findings clearly to clinicians and patients, offering professional guidance when appropriate.
• Maintain excellent standards of patient care, safety, and infection control.
• Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and support junior staff and trainees, encouraging professional development.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support efficient imaging department workflows.

Requirements

• Essential:

  • Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Medical Ultrasound (CASE accredited or equivalent).
  • Background in Radiography, Midwifery, or a relevant clinical discipline.
  • Experience working at Band 7 Sonographer level or equivalent.
  • Ability to independently scan and report across multiple ultrasound disciplines.
  • Strong experience in obstetric, gynaecological, and general ultrasound.

• Desirable:

  • Experience in musculoskeletal (MSK) or vascular ultrasound.
  • Previous NHS or UK healthcare experience.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
  • Familiarity with ultrasound reporting systems and RIS/PACS.
