We are looking for an experienced Band 6/7 Biomedical Scientist specialising in Blood Sciences to join our dynamic team across multiple sites in Brighton and Worthing. This full-time, ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from £26 to £31. Once trained, you will be covering night shifts and weekends, providing essential blood sciences services to support high-quality patient care.

You will be working in state-of-the-art laboratories across RSCH, PRH, WH, and SRH, with a chance to work alongside expert teams and develop your skills in a vibrant coastal setting.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

  • Work across multiple sites, including RSCH, PRH, WH, and SRH, and specialise in chemistry automation, special chemistry, haematology, and blood transfusion.

  • Operate and troubleshoot advanced laboratory analysers, including Roche, Abbott, Sysmex, and other industry-leading equipment.

  • Engage with Winpath and Qpulse IT systems to ensure smooth laboratory management and data tracking.

  • Conduct tests with precision, ensuring high-quality results to support clinical decisions.

Mentorship and Leadership

  • Take on the responsibility of training and mentoring junior staff, sharing your expertise and helping to guide them in their professional development.

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary laboratory teams to deliver top-tier, patient-focused care.

Compliance and Quality

  • Maintain high standards of laboratory procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and professional guidelines.

  • Troubleshoot any issues with laboratory equipment or procedures to maintain continuous operation.
