What you will do:
- Independently manage a specialist clinical dietetic caseload, prioritising workload effectively.
- Undertake comprehensive nutritional and dietetic assessments and accurately calculate patients' nutritional requirements.
- Interpret relevant clinical information, including biochemistry, medication, and fluid balance, to inform appropriate care plans.
- Prescribe nutritional support in accordance with professional standards, local policies, and clinical guidelines.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Attend ward rounds, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure nutrition is integrated into holistic patient care.
- Provide complex dietary counselling and education to patients, families, and carers.
- Communicate complex nutritional information clearly and sensitively to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records to support continuity and quality of care.
- Participate in audits, surveys, research, and service improvement initiatives where appropriate.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality dietetic services.
Essential requirements:
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Dietetics.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience managing a specialist dietetic caseload.
- Ability to undertake comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
- Confidence working autonomously and managing a varied clinical workload.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Desirable requirements:
- Previous experience working within an acute hospital environment.
- Experience managing medical and surgical caseloads.
- Experience working with complex nutritional needs.
- Previous involvement in clinical audits or dietetic service improvement initiatives.
