Role overview

We are offering an exciting locum opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a specialist Oncology Team based in Whitchurch, Cardiff. This ongoing role provides flexibility with part-time or full-time hours and the chance to work across a range of oncology settings, supporting adults at various stages of their cancer journey.

You will play a key role within the multidisciplinary oncology team, delivering patient-centred occupational therapy interventions that promote independence, enhance quality of life, and support safe discharge planning across inpatient, outpatient, and day therapy services.

Job purpose

To deliver a specialist occupational therapy service to adults affected by cancer across the oncology pathway, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative care, and end-of-life care. The post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions to maximise independence, function, and wellbeing, while contributing to effective discharge planning as an integral member of the Oncology MDT.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients with complex physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial needs related to cancer and its treatment.

  • Independently manage a defined caseload, prioritising workload in line with clinical need and service demands.
