Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the Adult Histopathology Team within HSSL in Manchester. This is a full-time, ongoing locum role offering a competitive hourly rate of £26.00.

This position is ideal for an experienced Band 5 Biomedical Scientist who is ready to step up into a Band 6 role and further develop their skills within a busy and high-performing histopathology service. You will play a key role in supporting diagnostic services and contributing to high-quality patient care.

What You Will Do

  • Carry out routine and more complex histopathological analyses to support diagnosis and treatment.

  • Work collaboratively with the wider pathology team to maintain high standards of laboratory practice.

  • Ensure all laboratory work is undertaken in accordance with HCPC standards, local policies, and procedures.

  • Take part in quality control and quality assurance processes to maintain laboratory accreditation.

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate records of performance and maintenance are kept.

  • Contribute to the efficient running of the laboratory service and support continuous service improvement.
