An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist (BMS) - Biochemistry Team within HSSL in Derby. This full-time, ongoing locum position offers £26 per hour and the chance to contribute to innovative and high-quality clinical biochemistry services.

This role is ideal for a Biomedical Scientist with post-registration experience and HCPC registration who is passionate about delivering accurate diagnostic services and contributing to advancements in clinical biochemistry.

Key Responsibilities

• Laboratory Analysis:

  • Perform routine and complex biochemical analyses using systems such as WinPath, Cobas Infinity, and CZE.

• Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including c6000, c8000, Hydrasys, and Optilite to ensure precise and reliable results.

• Specialist Testing:

  • Ensure accurate running of Capillarys 2 or 3 systems and support projects involving Tandem Mass Spectrometry to enhance laboratory performance.

• Collaboration & Innovation:

  • Work closely with fellow scientists to refine and improve assay techniques and laboratory processes.

• Reporting & Documentation:

  • Accurately document, interpret, and report findings to support patient diagnosis, care, and research initiatives.

• Compliance & Safety:

  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
