What you will do
- Mortuary Operations: Manage the daily administration, cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of the Mortuary Department, ensuring it remains hygienic, safe, and efficient.
- Equipment Care: Sterilise and maintain equipment and instruments in line with Consultant Histopathologists' and Mortuary personnel requirements, reporting any deficiencies.
- Family & Police Liaison: Arrange for relatives and police to identify the deceased, providing appropriate support to those bereaved.
- Cultural & Religious Observance: Ensure authorised religious rites are carried out respectfully within the Mortuary.
- On‑Call Support: Participate in the out-of-hours on-call service for H.M. Coroner and the Trust.
- Professional Guidance: Provide advice and practical support to funeral directors on mortuary-related issues.
Qualifications / Requirements / Person Specification
- Registration: HCPC registered Anatomical Pathology Technologist.
- Experience: Minimum of two years' relevant post-qualification experience.
- Driving: Ability to drive is desirable to meet service needs.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work sensitively in challenging situations.
