What You Will Do

  • Take charge of a diverse patient group, being responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing care across various clinical settings and leading the casting service provided.

  • Utilize extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to interpret x-rays and apply casts effectively.

  • Ensure patients with casts or splints can mobilise safely, collaborating with physiotherapists as necessary.

  • Assist in running clinics, including chaperoning duties and executing complex procedures in theatre such as scoliosis jackets and hip spicas.

  • Maintain and manage equipment in the Plaster Room and Fracture Clinic, ensuring everything is in proper working order.

  • Deliver safe and effective wound care, staying vigilant for signs of infection under plaster casts and escalating concerns appropriately.

  • Be trained to remove k.wires and external fixators, ensuring all procedures are carried out safely and efficiently.

  • Lead the new diabetic casting service on a weekly basis, enhancing patient care through specialized support.
