What you will do:

  • Assist with the day-to-day support of routine laboratory work, including processing samples and supporting the department with escalations to Biomedical Scientists and Advanced Biomedical Scientists.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and protocols to facilitate the delivery of accurate and timely results.
  • Attend team meetings as required and participate in training Medical Laboratory Assistants as directed by Advanced Biomedical Scientists or the Department Manager.
  • Plan and manage your own workload effectively while maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Monitor blood stocks and reagents and manage outstanding work efficiently.
  • Carry out corrective actions and communicate with the Advanced Biomedical Scientist in Blood Sciences regarding any service delivery issues.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments, GPs, and other institutions regarding sample handling to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Follow all BCSH and Trust guidelines and policies in Blood Transfusion, ensuring effective handovers and communication with laboratory colleagues.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • HCPC Registration: Essential.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in Blood Sciences.

  • £21 per hour
