Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Description
Priory Hospital Roehampton is looking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to join the team to work on our CAMHS ward. This is a full-time/37.5-hour role.

At Priory Hospital Roehampton, we can deliver expert mental health treatment to everyone who seeks support with us. We'll help you to alleviate your symptoms, tackle the underlying causes and triggers for your mental health problems, and improve your wellbeing.

What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Assisted Clinical Psychologists in delivering psychological assessments and interventions for adolescents within a CAMHS inpatient ward.
  • Facilitated therapeutic group sessions and supported young people with emotional regulation, risk management, and coping strategies.
  • Conducted behavioural observations, maintained accurate clinical notes, and contributed to multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
  • Built therapeutic relationships with young people presenting with complex mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, and eating disorders.
  • Supported the implementation of evidence-based interventions and contributed to audits, research, and outcome monitoring within the service.
You can find additional information in the attached job description.

What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

Candidates are typically expected to have experience working with children and adolescents in mental health, educational, or care settings, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, risk management, and psychological models such as CBT or DBT is highly desirable. The role also requires the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintain professional boundaries, and manage emotionally demanding situations with resilience and empathy. A degree in Psychology, accredited by the British Psychological Society and relevant clinical or support work experience are often essential for assistant-level CAMHS roles.
