Occupational Therapist working in Respiratory Disease, Band 7

Adult Respiratory Care and Rehabilitation Team (ARCaRe)

37.5 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Community Health Services in Tower Hamlets.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist with an interest in community management of respiratory conditions. You will have the opportunity of working in a diverse multicultural Borough within a supportive and well established award winning multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will provide a specialist clinical and evidence based OT Service, managing a caseload of patients with complex respiratory conditions and often multiple co-morbidities within the pathways of Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Enhanced Care ,Supported Discharge & Admission Avoidance, including those on our Home Oxygen Pathway. You will play a key role in the delivery of education sessions in the self-management of COPD and be integral in the decision making involved in the daily operational management of PR. We are currently in the process of applying for National RCP accreditation within which the postholder will have a significant role to play. You may also be required to provide cover across these pathways.

The post holder will implement service development within the speciality, promote and implement systems in order to provide a seamless service for those referred to the Occupational Therapy service. You will be required to extend this role and offer teaching to other Occupational Therapists across health and social care.

You will be a qualified and HPC registered OT with knowledge of Health and/or Social Care. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience in using your own initiative, the ability to problem solve and be able to respond flexibly to the changing needs of the service.

You will be supported by a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, a Clinical Psychologist and the wider respiratory multidisciplinary team. Professional supervision will also be provided.
