Are you a Senior Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) who has a special interest in adults in the acute setting and is looking to lead and develop a team?

Bars Health is actively recruiting a motivated and dynamic individual to lead our friendly team of Speech and Language Therapists at Whipps Cross Hospital for a 12 months fix term cover (ending 15th May 2020) with a potential to extend.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 7 SLT to lead the Speech and Language service in Acute Adult Care, covering ITU/HDU, videofluoroscopy outpatient service and acute medical wards including Respiratory, Gastro, Neurology and Elderly Rehabilitation and Older People’s services.

You will have excellent communication, organisation, leadership and interpersonal skills as well as having a good knowledge base in the assessment and management of patients with dysphagia and communication impairment, including tracheostomy and videofluoroscopy. You will work closely with the MDT across the sites at Barts Health and will be supported by the Band 8a Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist, Band 8b Speech and Language Professional Therapy Lead and Therapy Site Lead for Whipps Cross.

We are committed to work based education and training to improve clinical skills and we actively encourage supervision, CPD and audit.

The Adult SLT services at Barts Health NHS Trust consists of 5 hospital sites and 3 community services across culturally diverse and lively East London.

Essential Criteria:
  • Valid HCPC registration
  • Specialist experience in ITU/HDU and Acute medicine
  • Leadership experience
  • Excellent MDT working and communication skills.
