Chef / Cook
Permanent - 32 hours per week (4 days)
Up to £9.50 per hour
We are currently looking for an experienced Chef / Cook to work in the kitchens in a healthcare setting in Manchester.
About the role:
The role will entail working across 2 or 3 sites as required within the Manchester area, therefore having access to your own transport would be beneficial to the role.
The successful Chef / Cook candidate will work two days at an Independent Hospital for rehabilitation and mental illness located in Didsbury. The remaining two days be spent working at either a site in Moston in south of the city centre where you will be providing cover and support to the kitchen teams.
We are seeking an experienced cook to prepare balanced and nutritious meals, taking into account create a varied and nutritional menu to satisfy various dietary and cultural needs and food preferences. You will regularly seek feedback from service users and staff, and attend regular training, in order to ensure high standards and continually improve the level of service offered.
As Chef / Cook you will have an excellent knowledge of food hygiene and food preparation, including a relevant qualification, and be able to demonstrate a positive attitude and a desire to deliver the best possible service to the service users in care.
The successful Chef / Cook candidate will have good experience within the food industry. Also, experience in a care environment would be desirable but this is not essential. The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a minimum qualification NVQ Level 2, basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate
- Have a caring attitude
- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Have the ability to prioritise tasks and use their own initiative
- Present a professional image at all times
- Understand and strictly adhere to confidentiality at all times
- Be able to ensure continued compliance with Food Safety Management Systems in line with Food Standards Agency, including the maintenance of high quality kitchen documentation
- Be able to ensure a continued high standard of day-to-day cooking and cleanliness within the kitchen to meet environmental health standards
You will work core hours within a rota system which includes weekends and public holidays.
