An exciting opportunity has arisen at West London Trust for an experienced mental health pharmacist to take on the role of the Trust Medication Safety Officer. This post will support the Trust in ensuring implementation of MHRA patient safety alerts; improving medication incident reporting and learning. You will lead on all aspects of medication safety within the Trust.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist who has the skills to lead and develop on medication safety within the Trust and contribute to us becoming a centre of excellence. The role will involve leading on developing, delivering, and evaluating defined areas of safe medication practices across the Trust and in the pharmacy department. You will be involved in promoting and supporting local medication incident reporting and learning, leading audits related to medication safety within the Trust as well as providing clinical pharmacy services. You will be involved promoting a positive culture around reporting medicines incidents and increasing service user and staff engagement for quality improvement projects. You will also be a member of the National Medication Safety Network.
Applicants should have worked in the mental health setting for several years and have extensive experience of clinical pharmacy as well as having experience of audit work, root cause analysis and themed analysis of incidents. They should have knowledge of medication safety practice recommendations and guidance. Knowledge of measurement for quality improvement is desirable.
West London NHS Trust (WLT) provides services across a large geographical area and a wide range of mental health services and community health services.

Posts in the Trust are subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, and cautions.
