We have a variety of 1 year fixed term clinical fellow (CMT1-2 equivalent) posts. These posts will sit within the department of Older People’s Services but there maybe a possibility to rotate to other subspecialties dependent on candidate preferences and job availability.

Many of these posts will be un-banded (no out of hours commitment) and may be ideal for those studying for exams. Successful candidates will be invited to enroll with Staff Bank if desired to enable them to take advantage of locum opportunities in the evenings and weekends. There are some posts available with out-of-hours commitments which will be subject to any new Junior Doctors contract.

Successful applicants will be able to develop individualised educational goals including a focus within the specialty of your choice. This post presents excellent opportunities to develop clinical skills and has very high level of consultant supervision. This provides a good educational opportunity and if the post holder is interested they will be able to gain audit, research or teaching experience. You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and have experience across a broad range of Medical Subspecialties.

Whipps Cross Hospital serves a local population with a high degree of frailty and within the Barts Health Group is being developed to be a centre of excellence for Geriatric medicine. The department provides for a broad spectrum of sub-specialist areas including: frailty, acute geriatrics, orthogeriatrics, surgical liaison, psychiatry liaison, outpatients and Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment Clinics. The department regularly sees a rich mixture of pathology and complex psycho social issues. The local population contains a significant level of frailty with high rates of dementia and associated delirium.

The Care Quality Commission has recognised the significant improvements made at Whipps Cross in their latest visit to the CQC website and the 2018 Staff Survey results showed staff have seen many improvements in their working lives.
