Job Description

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust(AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.
We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

Due to a recent review of Safer Staffing Levels across the Longfox site we are looking for highly motivated members of staff to join experienced friendly team here on Dune Ward in Weston super mare.
We are very much focussed on improving standards of care and developing the in patient service in conjunction with the existing wider service and Multi-Disciplinary team. We are looking for Health Care Assistants at band 2.
The Longfox Site is situated in the Grounds of Weston General Hospital offering care to service users with a serious mental illness who are in crisis.
There are 3 wards all of which are mixed gender;
  • Cove Ward: which is a 14 bed ward which is a unit for people with mental health problems who may have physical frailties.
  • Dune Ward : which is a 10 bed organic ward.
  • Juniper Ward: which is an 18 bed acute admissions ward for people with mental health problems.
We work alongside an intensive support team who are based on site. We have a very good working relationship with both of these to optimise the service user's care pathway. We have an established culture of inter team working which offers people who work on the site diverse experience and learning opportunities.
We are also very proud of our service user involvement in the development of our services. We have a service user involvement worker who promotes involvement at every level of our service provision.
The candidates must be innovative, dynamic and enthusiastic to be a part of a team who is looking to improve the standards of care we are offering to the service users. We have well established links with Weston College and are keen to ensure that all candidates are well supported to progress their own career.
Weston Super Mare is in North Somerset and is situated along the M5. It is a short commute to Bristol, one of Britain's most vibrant and diverse cities and has excellent transport links to it and the surrounding areas. It is also a short Journey to some of the country's most sought after tourist spots in the South West.
