SENIOR CLINICAL FELLOW IN PAEDIATRIC INHERITED CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES
Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust. This post is designed to provide experience in the evaluation and management of Paediatric inherited cardiac conditions (ICC) to adult or Paediatric cardiologists seeking to develop a career as ICC physicians.
Duties of the post will include participation in Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases outpatient clinics, including disease-specific clinics for cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmias and aortopathies, as well as rare diseases with cardiovascular involvement. There are no on-call commitments. The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in teaching and training for medical and nursing staff as well as active participation in translational research in inherited cardiovascular disease.
The Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases at Great Ormond Street Hospital is the largest Centre in the Europe for the care of inherited cardiovascular disease in children, and is part of the UCLP Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases service. Over 5000 outpatients were seen in the Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases clinics in 2017, with referrals from across the UK and internationally.
Families are seen at Great Ormond Street for screening, diagnosis, evaluation and management. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical nurse specialists, patient pathway coordinators, genetic counsellors, clinical psychologists and Paediatric cardiac technicians, with close links to the electrophysiology, cardiac transplantation and clinical genetics teams. Dr Juan Pablo Kaski is the lead clinician for the service.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the Institute of Child Health (ICH). The successful candidate must possess full GMC registration and be within 12 months of award of CCT (or on the specialist register for Paediatric Cardiology or Adult Cardiology (CCT/CESR or equivalent) by date of interview.
The position is open to applicants who are able to work less than the full-time.
