Job Description

Acute Occupational Therapist (OT) - North London

Pay Rate: negotiable dependant on experience

Length: on-going

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a band 5 acute occupational therapist to work within an acute inpatient service in North London. As an acute occupational therapist in the team, you will be working with clients with mental health illnesses. You will be an autonomous practitioner that will provide holistic assessments based around the activities of day to day living and deliver therapy. You will be provide with regular support and supervision.

This post offer an exciting opportunity to work with a varied caseload of service users aged between 18 - 65 years within a well-established acute occupational therapy service. You will be providing therapy to improve daily living such as helping with grooming and hygiene. You will deliver therapy to service users as part of a multi-disciplinary team in therapeutic group settings on the psychiatric wards, as well as on a 1:1 basis to support recovery.

To succeed in this role previous experience of group work is essential. Experience of a previous supervisory role is desirable. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, flexibility and responsiveness in further developing the OT service and the acute care pathway for service users and their carers.

Mental Health Occupational Therapist to work within an acute team must have the below requirements;

  • Hold the necessary certificates and qualifications for an Occupational Therapist.
  • Must be registered (with no restrictions) with the HCPC.
  • Must have experience working in the community.
  • Demonstrates high standards in written and oral communication, problem solving and computer skills.
  • Be able to work full time hours
  • The client is offering this position on a locum basis for a period of 3 months with the view to extend.
