We are seeking a Lead Psychologist to oversee the provision of psychological services for the male personality disorder and mental illness wards. This will include responsibility for a team of qualified, trainee and assistant psychologists across 5 wards in terms of line management, supervision and ensuring compliance with key performance targets within the psychology department. The post holder will also have a clinical case load and be expected to work systemically with staff as well as directly with clients. You will provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.
You will be responsible for co-ordinating the design and delivery of interventions to target treatment needs in relation to offending behaviour and emotional dysregulation. In addition you will also have experience of working with clients who present with personality disorder and mental illness. This should include experience of how to work with therapy interfering behaviours using recognised interventions for this client group (such as group therapy/ CBT/ DBT/ Schema Therapy/ MBT etc). Experience of undertaking assessments such as the HCR-20, SVR-20/ RSVP, PCL-R and IPDE would also be regarded as advantageous.
Within the multi-disciplinary team setting you will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge, whilst supporting the clinical, nursing and direct care teams in making skilled evaluations and decisions about risk and promoting psychologically informed environments.
The post-holder will have a key role in the training and clinical supervision of qualified, trainee and assistant Psychologists, as well as volunteers and psychology trainees/students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development and the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.
As a member of the psychology department, there will be considerable opportunity for further professional development through access to training and various CPD activities/events and research.
The post is full time however consideration to flexible working hours or reduced hours could be considered for the right candidate.
