We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Pharmacist to join our team of Pharmacists. The Pharmacy Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ambitious and forward thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always at the heart of everything we do. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of the rotational clinical pharmacist team and to fulfill a specialist role within the Clinical Trials Dispensary team.
Our rotational clinical pharmacist programme currently includes a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, solid organ transplant, Critical Care and Neurosciences where you will become a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team. There are opportunities in be in involved in pre-reg / diploma tutoring, whilst the department is keen to promote independent prescribing training for suitable employees.
The successful applicant will also be based within the Clinical Trials Dispensary for half of the working day and play a pivotal role in the clinical trial dispensing work stream, ensuring targets agreed with Research & Development and the trust are met. You will provide a clinical trial prescription verification service, be responsible for final product check and release, and resolving any clinical queries. You will work with the dispensing team to ensure all appropriate clinical trial documentation is completed in line with legislation, Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Clinical Practice. You will also play a vital role in the supply of non-trial medication dispensed by the Clinical Trials Dispensary including compassionate use supplies, named patient schemes and other specialist medicines supplied to our patients.
In addition, as the specialist pharmacist based in the Clinical Trials Dispensary you will: support the Dispensary Manager in the operation of the Clinical Trials Dispensary; take an active role in developing and enhancing the systems and processes associated with the provision of both the trial and non-trial dispensing service; assist in the training of all rotational members of staff, taking the lead on the training of rotational Band 6 pharmacists and in conjunction with the Clinical Trials Team review & modify pharmacy trial folder documentation.
