Cygnet Woodside is looking to appoint a motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our established psychology department.
Cygnet Woodside provides an acute admissions / intensive support service for men with learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge and associated complex needs.
This is an opportunity for a psychology graduate with previous experience of working in a mental health setting to develop their skills in clinical areas. The post-holder will support the qualified clinical psychologists in various aspects of the inpatient work across the wards. This will involve patient assessment and intervention, multi-disciplinary liaison and involvement in other organisational activities. There will also be opportunities to be involved in co-facilitating training of other professionals under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist. There is a strong focus on measurable outcomes and audits therefore the successful candidate will be expected to be proficient statistical analysis.
You will be working alongside a number of qualified Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and other allied health professionals within the Women’s service. Clinical supervision will be provided by senior psychologists and there will be training opportunities to support professional development.
To facilitate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of psychology provision, as directed and under supervision by a qualified psychologist. You will utilise research skills to assist in audit, research and service development as directed
To contribute to psychological assessments of service users by working with and reporting to a qualified psychologists and the multi-disciplinary team, via appropriate verbal and written reports.
To carry out psychological assessments, group and individual work with service users, under supervision, and to produce verbal and written feedback as required.
To plan, implement and evaluate individual and group programmes in collaboration with other professionals, as directed and supervised by a qualified psychologist.
To contribute to clinical formulation and to implement care plans for psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s mental health problems, under supervision.
Are you the successful candidate we are looking for?
• A good level (2:1 or above) BPS (British Psychological Society) Accredited Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (or equivalent)
• Some experience within the healthcare sector
• A Psychology Masters Qualification (or equivalent) is desirable
• Previous experience in a paid/voluntary Assistant Psychologist role is desirable
• A passion for learning and working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good communication skills
