An exciting opportunity has become available for a Ward Doctor to join US. This role will be working Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:30.
Cygnet Hospital Maidstone will be a brand new purpose built 65 bed facility which is due to open in September 2018 and is part of the wider Cygnet Health Care group. There will be 4 wards; male locked rehabilitation, female personality disorder, male PICU and male low secure. Our treatment will be based on the principles of the recovery model of care, including psychological therapies, occupational therapy, social therapy, physical healthcare and medication.The Opportunity
The Ward Doctor will work on the 16- bedded Female Personality Disorder Ward which will provide high levels of support, use of DBT and other therapy models in order to empower service users to make positive changes in their lives.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist (Responsible Clinician) to provide high quality medical interventions and support. To work closely with the Clinical Manager and as a core member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) is key.
Other duties will include; screening and assessing of referrals as part of the MDT, mental state examination of service users on admission, appropriate investigation / diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of service users of the unit. The potholder will also participate in weekly ward rounds, clinical audit, treatment plans/programmes and the internal on-call out of hours rota (after a period of 6 months and on completing probation).Are you the successful candidate we are looking for?
• GMC registered and an MBBS (or equivalent) medical qualification
• Sufficient experience in an adult and/or forensic psychiatry position, ideally as a Ward or Specialty Doctor
• Up to date knowledge in the sphere of adult and forensic psychiatry along with the principles of the Recovery Model in mental health
• A commitment and enthusiasm for working with women with personality disorders
• An understanding of the impact that personality disorder can have on quality of life
• The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication skillsIn return, we will offer you:
