Job Description

Senior Occupational Therapist - Specialist Dementia Service

Staffordshire

Salary: £33,000 - £38,000 DOE

Remit

Compass Associates are proudly working with a leading provider of private inpatient services to headhunt for a Senior Occupational Therapist to work on a full time, permanent basis.

You would be based at a specialist dementia service for older aged adults with dementia, neuro-progressive conditions and challenging behaviours. The service is divided into smaller units which have all been extensively and specially refurbished for dementia care including personalised front doors, residents' memory boxes, cinema and communal seating areas. To stimulate memories and enhance quality of life, corridors and facilities have been designed to replicate local community services including a pub, record shop, library, village hall, bakery and book shop.

You role will largely be based on the assessment and discharge planning ward where you would carry out comprehensive assessments, formulate care plans and advise the wider MDT on the what the best, safest and most appropriate plan would be - whether that would be to remain at the service for a period of rehabilitation, become a permanent resident or return home with a full package of care in place.

This role would be an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist, already at Band 6/Senior level, who has experience working with elderly patients with dementia as well as carrying out thorough assessments, discharge planning and experience with moving and handling, equipment and adaptations and liaising with external agencies e.g. social services.
