Occupational Therapist - Term Time Only - Specialist School


£24,907 - £37,890 DOE



Compass Associates are excited to be working with a charitable provider of specialist autism services to recruit an Occupational Therapist to be based at their specialist school in Surrey which has maintained an Ofsted “Outstanding” rating since 2010.


You would work with children and young people, aged 4 - 19, who all have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum condition plus associated disabilities and/or challenging behaviours. Children range between low - high functioning and many are non-verbal and utilise alternative communication methods e.g. Makaton. All pupils have an EHCP and are referred by the Local Authority.


The role provides an exciting opportunity to work at a certified CABAS® school, access training in behaviour analysis and work towards a Registered Behaviour Technician qualification. Class sizes are purposefully small to allow for 1:1 support, specially trained Teachers and Teaching Assistants to be involved in each lesson. Your role will include addressing any sensory processing difficulties, functional life skills, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, motor and perception skills and providing recommendations and adaptations for teaching staff to ensure all pupils have a positive learning environment.



The is a term time only role, working 34.75 hours per week. The school runs a 43-week academic year divided into 3 terms.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate must have:

A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy

HCPC registration

Keen interest/experience working with a paediatric caseload or children with autism/learning disabilities

Knowledge of relevant therapeutic approaches e.g. sensory integration, postural management/Bobath training

Sensory Integration training (desirable but not essential)

Interview Process

Video interview with Specialist Occupational Therapist and member of the Senior Management team.
