The teams' caseload consists of service users with both functional and organic mental health illnesses, alongside complex long term health conditions. As the physiotherapy assistant within the community, after a period of training you will be expected to hold you own caseload. This work follows a set physiotherapy intervention plan which is developed by the band 6 physiotherapist. You will also be expected to work closely with the qualified physiotherapist to deliver specialist physiotherapy input. You will be expected to attend team meetings/huddles as required.
The successful candidate will also have some administrative duties e.g. organise appointments, manage referrals, order equipment and manage your own diary and be an active member within the monthly physio professional forum.
This will be a challenging and rewarding role in which the physiotherapy assistant will be expected to work in a dynamic environment, have strong communication skills, inter personal skills and be dependable, approachable, flexible and enthusiastic. The successful candidate will participate with peer support and education of staff, students and carers within the service.
You will be expected to liaise with other healthcare services e.g. orthotics, wheelchair services on behalf of the physiotherapists, acting as a conduit between mental health and other healthcare providers.
