Band 7 Occupational Therapist -
We are looking for an experienced band 6 Occupational Therapist or an established band 7 who has the passion and expertise to work with surgical, critical care and amputees in an acute hospital setting. If you are ready to take your leadership skills to the next level and lead your own team this could be the job for you.
The Band 7 Occupational Therapist will lead our team's work across our surgical wards including Critical Care and the Amputee population, promoting the continued provision of a high quality therapy service that is patient centred, ensuring evidence based practice is embedded in its provision.
The successful candidate will join an integrated team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working in a friendly, dynamic and supportive environment, ensuring a seamless patient journey and providing expert support, advice and training to both the OT team and the wider therapy service. They will have their own caseload and lead a team of 1 x band 6 OT, 1 x band 5 OT and two band 3 therapy support staff.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Band 7 Physiotherapist in the same team and the Band 7 Therapists in the Medical team to further develop therapy provision across the Surgical team.
Applicants will need to hold a current HCPC registration, have broad clinical skills including recent acute hospital healthcare of the surgical, respiratory, orthopaedics and neurology experience and have worked in the NHS or similar health service at band 6 or 7 level. They will possess excellent MDT working and communication skills, experience in complex discharge planning and the supervision of staff and students. A passion for the continued improvement in the quality of care given to critically ill and post surgery is essential as the successful candidate will lead the team in audit and service evaluations.
There is a strong commitment to staff training and service improvement with support for leadership development and for education at Masters level.
Professional Occupational therapy support and development is provided from the on-site Clinical Lead.
The OT service operates a rostered weekend service to ensure 7 day provision with early & late shifts ensuring services are covered between 8am - 6pm (a usual shift pattern would be either 8am - 4pm or 10am - 6pm). The postholder would be rostered to work no more than 1:4 weekends with time off in lieu during the week.
Whipps Cross University Hospital is a busy District General Hospital in East London, with easy access to central London, the M25 and M11 motorways.
