The Intensive Positive Behaviour Support Team (IPBS) is a specialist service created as part of the Transforming Care initiative to enable services to support young people with Learning Disabilities and Behaviours of Concerns to receive specialist, intensive support within his or her own community. PBS uses person centred approaches combined with behaviour analysis to provide evidence-based, quality services to enable long term, meaningful change to a young person and their family.
IPBS will work with young people, their family and any other supporting services to for a period of 12-18 weeks; we will work flexibly according to the needs of our service users, providing assessment and support at the times which are important to each person. Due to this, some early morning, late night and weekend work will be required as part of the role, this will be in a planned way but applicants should be prepared for the flexible requirements of the role.
It is desirable for applicants to have experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and show skills in the assessment and support of young people who have behaviours of concern.
The successful candidate will work with young people up to the age of 18 and their families who are accessing support from the IPBS team as an extension to their existing community LDCAMHS care plan. The postholder will access wider support from the Occupational Therapy network in CAMHS in TEWV, to develop a new way of delivering a high quality, needs-led OT contribution to the service, utilising core Occupational Therapy skills to ensure all of the young people have a robust occupational therapy assessment and intervention plan in place.
Clinical/Professional supervision is provided by the Lead Occupational Therapist for CAMHS in the Trust. The post holder will attend monthly OT Learning and Governance Networks to ensure fidelity to core Occupational Therapy delivery, enhance CPD and contribute to the wider OT service developments.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience of delivery of occupational therapy, keenness to continually develop themselves and others, and a particular interest in this field of OT.
