Job Description

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our experienced team working 5 days per week with the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service covering the East Kent localities.

Do you want to develop your knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure that we deliver high quality, person centered care at the right time and in the right place? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant to work in our community service.

We actively encourage applications from people with experience of working within a community mental health care setting. The team provide a service to people aged 14-65 with a presentation of first episode of psychosis and it would be beneficial for individuals applying for this post to have some experience working with people with complex mental health needs and be able to engage people in a practical way that enables recovery and to have an understanding of the importance of their physical health.

The role includes a focus on physical health, nutrition and well-being working closely with the Band 5 well-being practitioner. This will involve supporting service users to have physical health checks, providing education and support to service users and their families and helping to run well-being clinics. The post holder should have a qualification in venepuncture or be willing to complete.

The successful post holder will receive supervision from within the team monthly. Peer support is available monthly across the Horizons Service.

Ideally we would like applicants to have:

* NVQ at Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent relevant training
* Good written and verbal communication
* Good IT skills
* Willing to complete training on the Trust`s electronic clinical records system (RIO)
* Ability to work on your own and willing to develop skills and abilities
* Be outgoing and enthusiastic
* Venepuncture qualification

The post holder will also be expected to work flexibly as needed to give service users choice and this may include working between 8am and 8pm on occasions if they are at work or school.
